Day 3 - Getting to Work

Reality came on Monday as we had the project kick-off. The client's office overlooks the palace grounds. I made sure to sit with my back to the window so I would not be distracted. It was a productive day.  We arrived early and were able to take a look at the Olympics display in the lobby. It was nice to see that the paraolympics had an equal amount of attention.

After work, I met my brother-in-law by the Olympics countdown clock in front of Tokyo Station. He showed me some of the things you are aware of as a tourist, primarily the crowds walking during the evening rush hour. He also pointed out things you would not normally notice, groceries for sale in department stores. These were not like picking up some oatmeal. A square watermelon cost a little over $162. If you are having a BBQ, the steak was over $270 a pound but you get to see a photo of the cow it came from, complete with its lineage.
We had dinner at a sushi place, again underneath the metro. It definitely was not a tourist place so I was happy to have a translator with me.
After dinner, we went by the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater. My niece is in her final year of training in Takarazuka. It was quite impressive just to see the building. Notice how I take credit by saying my niece instead of his daughter?  She had many years of hard work with wonderful, supportive parents and older sister and deserves everything that will result.
I had an early flight the next day so we couldn't stay out very late.
